Expediting Insight
Q. Dear Linda, How can I buy your book? Also, I want to research about a career in expediting. I am retired from AT&T. At 60 years of age (good health) is it too late to start? I want to work for a company for at least six months to gain experience, and see if I want to stay with it before I buy my own rig. What company would you recommend to start with as a newbie, without buying my own rig? Thank you for the great articles on the web, Jason
A. Hello Jason, Thank you for your inquiry. Here's the link for purchasing the book about Expediting: www.products4truckers.com. You are definitely not too late to begin a career in expedited trucking. Your situation is very common to the majority of individuals entering the business. Without knowing your specific interests and expectations I cannot advise you on which is the best company to start with. There are too many variables to consider when making that decision. I recommend reading
the guidelines I have provided on www.expediteinfo.com, which will help you determine how to choose the best company for you.
Your approach to "try it before you buy it" is a smart way to go however your choices may be somewhat limited. Most expedite companies have a 100% owner operator fleet. You need to find an owner operator who is looking for a driver for their vehicle. One thing you can do is visit our network site
www.expediterecruiting.com and send a message to the carriers listed asking if any of their owner operators are looking for drivers or you can even fill out a quick application that goes to the carriers you are interested in.
ExpressTrucking.com also offers you the opportunity to gather valuable information and even meet with representatives from various carriers at truck shows where we exhibit. I also present a full day educational class for expedited trucking in conjunction with
each show. The full day class is mainly for those who are going to get into the business or those fairly new wanting to learn how to enhance their business. You can view all the details about the class at www.expeditertraining.com.
