Q.
I have enjoyed your website...thank you. I have a question... I have been planning to start my own small fleet trucking company (even though I have no industry experience...pretty gutsy, huh!). Can I reasonably start an Expedited Trucking Company and make just as much money as Over the Road Long Haul? Or, is the Expedited business model more suited to single-truck owner operators? Thanks. Sincerely, Steve B.

Hello Steve, thanks for the compliment. Your question is difficult to give a generalized answer without knowing your business plan (how many units, what size units, domicile area and the list goes on). Success can only be achieved if you’re willing to take the risks. Each individual determines the level of risk they can afford to take. Sometimes the greater the risk the greater the return but you must be able to withstand the volatility.
Expedited Trucking offers opportunities
for fleet owners as well as individual operators. Although the volume of expedited freight is consistently increasing, the competition is increasing at an accelerated percentage. This makes it very challenging. Over the Road Long Haul may offer more of surplus of freight opportunities but keep in mind you have to move more freight to achieve the same revenue as you would in hauling expedited freight.
