Hi, I've reviewed the websites of the Express Freight companies listed in the recent issue of
Newports' "Roadstar" magazine. I haven't seen any one of the companies concentrating on recruiting contractors or drivers West of the Rockies - Pacific Coast regions of the US. I find that disappointing as I find this concept very interesting and would consider becoming an owner operator for one of these companies if they were operating in these areas. Your thoughts would be appreciated., Regards Bob So. Lake Tahoe, CA

Hi Bob, your right there's not much mention in any media to territories west
of the Rockies with regard to this specialized portion of trucking. I'll try to explain. The very nature of expediting is it's unpredictability. You never know where you're going to wind up. Many express companies have authority and operate in the western states but the biggest problem for owner operators is the freight is mostly inbound, meaning once you get to CA you will need to deadhead out of there (go back empty). Sometimes that means 800 to 1000 miles to get your next load. If you live in Colorado you may have to drive hundreds of miles away from home to get a load. Those who live in Florida and Texas have the same problem. The central states & East of the Mississippi is where the expediting business is prolific. If you live west of the Rockies finding a local carrier that has a customer base concentrated in the western states is a good way to find the freight that stays west of the Rockies. We will certainly try to include those companies in our directory. Thanks for your inquiry and for visiting Express Trucking.com
