Hi Linda and Mark, I met you guys at the Mid America trucking show in Louisville. My name is Mark and I was with my girlfriend Sherri. As I was leaving the show on the last day, I stopped by the Landstar booth to talk with Jeff Garra. He introduced us to you and I mentioned to you that I had read an article several years ago in "Overdrive" magazine about you guys. You gave me the CD
you’re promoting and I have to say it is great - very informative.
I don't expect you to remember me but I was glad you took time out to talk to us. I have been researching the expediting industry for over a year and have attended a number of trucking shows within the past year. I have made some good contacts with recruiters and others in the industry. When we got back to Tucson, I looked back at my old Overdrive magazine and reread the article about you. After looking at the CD I have
to say, you guys have accomplished alot. Great job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! People like yourselves are what makes the industry work.
I am still putting alot of work into researching this career as I have been in manufacturing for the last 10 years as a first line supervisor. I have always wanted to be out on the road and have finally narrowed it down to expediting. We are thinking of driving for someone initially until we get our feet wet and then sinking money into a truck. As I
review more information I will probably have some questions and would like to run them by you. I know you guys are EXTREMELY busy so I will be patient for a reply when ever I send you another question. Thanks for your time and it was a pleasure meeting you..................
Subj: Re: Research To: Mark
Hello Mark, Sorry for the delay getting back with you. We have been getting ready for the next trade show in Boston. First let me say it was a pleasure meeting you and Sheri, we
remember talking with you at the show. Thank you for the compliments. Mark and I are glad that we can be of help to others in this industry. Our mission is to provide enough information to give people a fair perspective of this profession so that they can set adequate expectations.
Starting out by driving for someone is a great idea. You will get a good feel for what it is like to do this for a living and you'll be exposed to the ups and downs before you make a big financial
commitment. You've got our phone number so
please feel free to call or email us with any questions you have. We will do our best to help and if we don't know the answer we'll direct you in the right place to find the answer. I'm confident with your smart approach, that if you do decide to venture into this industry, you will do just fine and you will find it very rewarding. If your have a pension coming to you for your time invested in your present job I recommend you don't make any career changes until that is secure. This industry is too volatile to rely on consistency as far as income. Good luck and keep in touch.
